Silky Cow Apprenticeship for 2015
I have filled my openings for 2014 but am doing interviews for 2015, contact me if that timeline works for you.
Silky Cow Farm is looking for 2 motivated energetic milk drinking individuals that want to learn more about grass based agriculture and especially grass dairying. We manage several hundred acres and over 100 cows as well as chickens, pigs, goats and sheep. Most products are direct marketed to about 200 families in the Charlottesville VA area.
I am looking for 2 people interested in doing a yearlong apprenticeship.
Please contact me for more info on what is offered as part of the apprenticeship.
Alice Waters Milks a Silky Cow at Monticello.
Nathan looks on and Triticale stands idly by while Alice toasts the crowd with a glass of “fresh” milk.
Triticale made The Wall Street Journal (we think she might be getting a little big for her britches). Go read the article and flip through the “slideshow” to see our favorite girl. It was a great “Local” event and we were happy to be a part of it.
The local magazine Edible Blue Ridge did a very nice article on the farm for their spring edition. You can check out the digital copy here http://www.ediblecommunities.com/blueridge/
or here http://silkycowmilk.com/the-whole-milk if you just want to see the article on Silky Cow.
